Technik Museum Speyer
The hotel is located directly on the grounds of the Technik Museum Speyer. The museum plays host to over 3,000 exhibition pieces in a hall space of 25,000m² and an outdoor area of 150,000m².
The highlight of the open-air area at the Technik Museum Speyer is the Boeing 747, the completely accessible jumbo jet from Lufthansa: You can visit everything from the passenger compartment and the cockpit to the cargo hold of this gigantic transport aircraft. Visitors can also enjoy a splendid view of the museum’s grounds from the 20-metre high left wing of the Boeing. The open-air area also features the U9 submarine, whose interior is also completely accessible to visitors.
In the halls, the largest aerospace exhibition in Europe awaits: Here, in addition to the Russian Buran space shuttle, you will find more than 600 other exhibits, which document the history of space travel from its beginnings to the current ISS Space Station in an impressive way. This is joined by numerous other exhibition pieces, including locomotives, vintage cars, fire engines, motorbikes, and much more. Temporary special exhibitions and vehicle conventions add an extra level of diversity.
Directly next to the Technik Museum Speyer you will find the connecting IMAX Dome Filmtheater. Here, feature length films are not projected onto a flat projection screen as is usual, but rather onto a gigantic dome, making for a unique film experience for visitors.
The diversity of the exhibitions that the IMAX Filmtheater and the family-friendly design make a visit to the Technik Museum Speyer a unique experience, which you won’t want to miss. The museum is open from 9:00 a.m. 365 days a year.
